Teachers will meet monthly with Dr. Sarah Benis Scheier-Dolberg to explore how to integrate 21st Century Skills and Themes (e.g., skills such as creativity and innovation and themes such as global awareness and health literacy) and Common Core literacy standards into their current curricula and instructional practices. Participants will gain experience with ICT (Information, Communications, and Technology) Literacy by engaging in hands-on work with Skype Classroom, Edmodo, tablet and mobile device apps, among other educational technologies. Sarah will share lesson and unit exemplars with civil and human rights essential questions and a focus on recent events in Ferguson (high school), the Syrian Conflict (middle school), and Children’s Health and Healthcare (elementary). Participants will be supported to authentically integrate session learnings and questions into existing curricula. Culminating task for teachings: online PLN (personal learning network) that documents the year’s work and serves as a support system for extending the work into future school years.
